Kiss me, I'm Irish

My mum is Irish, my dad is Scottish, I was born in Scotland and I have Australian citizenship. Whenever people hear my accent and inquire as to my nationality, my standard response is that I'm half-Irish, half-Scottish and half-Australian. It usually gets a good laugh, but I said it to a guy last week and instead of laughing he thought for a few seconds and then said, "You're probably more Irish than you think".

Hey Scotty,

Funny how now, that I've lived West for 7 years that when someone asks me where I'm from, I'm not sure how I should reply. As before we moved from S.A. I'd never been anywhere else so if someone asked, it was because they had heard my scottish accent. (I only have one when talking to my kids and family and the dog and anyone else who talks to me with a scottish accent) So then I'd explain that my family are from Scotland ...or (to cut a long story short) I was from Scotland.
It became a bit amusing at work today ...well for me. A young Scottish family came in for lunch with broad accents and glaring white skin. One of my work mates must of heard my accent come out while chatting to them (As I have just started working there she has no idea where I'm from) Later on in the afternoon while packing up she asked if I was working over Christmas in which I replied "No, we are going home for Christmas, we leave on Christmas Day" She said "Oh my God, I'd love to go to Scotland, how long are you going for?" .....ROFL!
